Your phones are already talking to AI. Can you see it?

Across every organisation we protect, over a two-day window, only 16% had nobody accessing an AI service from a phone. AI adoption on mobile has already happened. Your users are doing it for work, today. The harder problem is the pace of change. In a separate comparison against a snapshot from two months ago, the share of AI domains we had never seen before rose from roughly 30% to almost 70%. The services your devices connect to are new, they stay new, and most organisations have no record of them. This is why blocklists do not solve the problem. A list is out of date before it reaches the endpoint, and that approach only works if you can see the mobile network traffic in the first place. Most tools cannot. AI adoption on mobile has already happened
Hi, we’ve been looking at our detection data, and there are some interesting things in it. For instance, across all the organisations we protect and over two days, only 16% didn’t have someone accessing an AI service from their phone. So the AI adoption has already happened. Your users are doing it on their phone for work today.
The ground is moving faster than the adoption
That’s not the worrying part, though. What is worrying is how quickly the ground is moving. We compared it with a snapshot from two months ago. In this time, the proportion of AI domains that we had never seen used before went from about 30% to almost 70%. So those AI services that your phones are talking to are new. They remain new, and you have no idea what they are.
Why a block list cannot keep up
A block list, forget it. It’s obsolete by the time it’s deployed. And anyway, that assumes that you can see the network traffic in the first place. We can, because our DPI firewall works on the device itself. The real question, if you’re serious about the AI risk, is: can you?
